I started my fitness journey in my late 20s after experiencing disc issues in my lower back due to a leg length discrepancy. Over the next 15 years, I tried "globo" gyms, personal training, online programs, HITT classes, and more. I avoided CrossFit due to misconceptions and feeling intimidated. After getting frustrated with the lack of results from more online programs, my wife and a friend finally convinced me to try a CrossFit class. That first class was so fun and challenging that I was hooked immediately. Shortly after, I joined CrossFit Draper and began my CrossFit journey at 43 years old. Shortly after I joined CFD, my wife and two daughters joined. The community immediately embraced us, and we fell in love with the gym. Around my second anniversary at CrossFit Draper, my family was able to purchase the gym and officially took over in May of 2024. The opportunity to nurture and grow the culture and community here is a dream come true. We are entirely dedicated to providing quality coaching, a clean and well-equipped facility, and a community that supports all of our athletes.
My turning point was looking around a pain management clinic at 28 years old and seeing I was on the wrong path. I was skinny but not fit and in need of a change. I built a decent foundation of strength over the next 15 years, but it took CrossFit to begin a fundamental transformation of my health and physique. I regret letting my ego and skepticism get in the way of trying CrossFit earlier, but I'm also excited to get stronger and fitter in my late 40s and beyond!
